What keeps happening over and over in your life?

Hello dear one,

For the past several weeks, I've been sharing about imprints, patterns, and body memories of things that happened before you could consciously remember.

I'm deciding what to make next and I'd sincerely like to hear from you.

What keeps happening in your life right now that isn't working?

The thing that repeats. The thing that wakes you up at night, or that you find yourself worrying about in your free time.

Because I work with relationships, it might show up there. With your partner, your child, your siblings, your parents. It might be about parenting specifically, or about your work if you walk alongside others, or something inside you that has nothing to do with anyone else.

Wherever it lives for you, I'd like to hear about it.

Just hit reply. It doesn't have to be a complete answer or a story that makes sense, though you're welcome to share more if you'd like. And if a sentence feels like too much, a word or a phrase is plenty. "Siblings fighting." "Sleep (yours or someone else's)." "School." "Self-nurturing." "My mother." "The same fight with my partner."

For me, even though my "children" are now young adults and live on their own, I'm finding bedtime to be really tricky. I am working hard to give myself enough time to do the things that need to be done so I can have wind down time rather than arriving in bed an hour after I wanted to be there. When I'm able to get in bed before I'm exhausted, I can actually read a book for a few minutes, and that feels like a huge victory. But it's still a work in progress for me.

What about you?

Be curious. Be kind. Start with yourself.

Warmly,

Rebecca

P.S. I have a few openings for one-on-one sessions this summer. If one of those has your name on it, you can tell me that when you reply, too.

Hello dear one, For a few weeks now I've been writing to you about imprints, the patterns we carry from our very beginnings, the story that shows up in the smallest moments of an ordinary day and also in our milestone moments. (How we do one thing is how we do everything!) I've made something that gathers it all into one place, and it's ready for you. It's a short video (under 6 minutes). In it, I tell you about the first time I really saw an imprint, a three-day-old baby who changed the way...

Hello dear one, As we’ve been looking at the idea of imprints, or the patterns in the nervous system that repeat throughout our lives, maybe you’ve been sitting with a question that many of us have had: Is it too late to heal? Maybe you’re a parent, thinking about your child’s experience of coming into the world. Maybe it was rough, but it’s over now and everyone said not to worry about it. Maybe you’re wondering about the things that you do over and over again that might somehow be connected...

Hello dear one, We've learned to see the world in a certain way. We interpret what we think is happening, and we make up stories about ourselves and our loved ones. The slammed door means something. The child who won't fall asleep, or settle into our arms, means something else. And the way we judge ourselves after we snap at the person we love most, freeze when it's time to begin or rush through the ending, that means something too. We only see the behavior, and we just want to make it stop....
